Posture Check

OK Guys - stop what you are doing and give yourself a POSTURE CHECK.

1.) Are your shoulders back and down with chest forward?
2.) Is your neck neutral (not tilted excessively forward, back, up or down)?
3.) Is there a natural arch in your lower back?

If not you need some adjusting to get your spine in line.

Pay attention to your alignment throughout the day (while driving, working on the computer, walking through the grocery store, etc.) and correct it as often as needed to meet the three guidelines above. Pulling your "belly to the spine"(a.k.a. sucking in your gut) also helps support good spinal alignment and tightens the core. After doing this for a while you will start holding better posture without even thinking about it.

Be sure to take a Posture Check while lifting weights also. Not maintaining proper alignment in the gym leads to muscle imbalances and excessive stress on the joints (can you say "injuries"?) If you have questions while working out just pull a trainer over to assist with your concerns. They should be more than happy to help keep you in line!

One other benefit from proper posture is looking leaner and more confident ~ now who doesn't want that?
